SYHC is now accepting coaching applications for its Select Birth Year Teams for the 2012-13 season
 
In 2011, SYHC established birth year teams at the 2000, 2001 and 2002 levels. For 2012-13, we are adding a 2003 birth year team and would also consider expanding into 1998 1nd 1999 birth years if there is interest. If you are interested in coaching at any level, please apply.
 
Spring Tryout dates and Mini camps dates will be announced soon for each birthyear.
Please complete the application no later than Feb 5th.

Dear SYHC Members,

        Elections for the Strongsville Youth Hockey Club Executive Board positions will be held during the week of February 13 through February 17 in the upper common area at Iceland Arena. Set days and times will be released within the coming days. The 2012/2013 Executive Board will serve a one year term from March 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013. Descriptions of the Executive Board positions as well as the nomination and election process can be found on the Strongsville Youth Hockey Club website under the bylaws tab.


        At the December 2011 Executive Board meeting, a nomination committee was formed and voted upon by the general membership. It is the duty of this committee to compile a list of nominees for election to the Executive Board for the 2012/2013 Strongsville Youth Hockey Club for the upcoming hockey season.

         If you are interested in running for a certain Executive Board position for the 2012/2013 hockey season, please notify the nominating committee of your interest by contacting one of the nomination committee members listed below by January 25,2011.

         As I'm sure all of our Strongsville Youth Hockey Club members are aware, our club is run by VOLUNTEERS. To accomplish the goal of a strong solid hockey club it takes VOLUNTEERS to help build and run a top notch program like Strongsville Youth Hockey Club. Serving on the Executive Board is one of the MANY ways that club members can contribute to our hockey club.

Concussion:  New Information & Treatment for the Athlete
 
 
On Wednesday, February 1, the Strongsville Youth Hockey Club will hold a concussion seminar for all coaches and members in the Iceland Gallery at 7 PM. There is no cost to attend this seminar. The guest speaker will be Steve Prtichard MS, AT, current Head Athletic Trainer at Strongsville High School.
 
Topics covered include:
 

• Definition, mechanisms, pathophysiology, signs/symptoms, brain function damage
• Concussion assessment
• Concussion management
• Neuropsychological testing

Mike Bell has accepted the position as Hockey Director for all Core Travel teams for the Strongsville Youth Hockey Club. This includes Core (CSHL) Travel teams at the Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam levels. Previously, Mike served as Hockey Director during the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons. Mike brings a wealth of knowledge to our Club and we are glad he has accepted this position.

Josh Moore will continue as Hockey Director for 8U and Select Teams.
